Adapalene is a retinoid-like compound that acts on specific retinoic acid receptors (RARs) in the skin. It helps normalize skin cell turnover, prevent clogging of pores, and reduce inflammation—key factors involved in acne formation.
It works by promoting proper differentiation of follicular epithelial cells, which decreases microcomedone formation and helps keep pores clear.
Systemic absorption of Adapalene through the skin is minimal, ensuring localized action with fewer systemic effects.
Adapalene 0.1%: Apply once daily at night to affected areas.
Adapalene 0.3%: Apply once daily in the evening to the entire face and other affected skin areas.
Children under 12 years: Safety and efficacy have not been established.
How to use:
Apply a thin film of Pimplex cream or gel to clean, dry skin over the affected areas. Use only enough to cover lightly. Avoid contact with eyes, lips, and mucous membranes.
During the first few weeks of treatment, mild and temporary reactions may occur, such as:
Avoid using other potentially irritating topical products such as abrasive soaps, alcohol-based cosmetics, astringents, or medicated cleansers alongside Pimplex.
Caution is advised when combining with sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid preparations. If these have been recently used, wait until their effects subside before starting Pimplex.
If both products are necessary, apply them at different times of the day to reduce irritation.
Hypersensitivity to Adapalene or any component of the formulation.
Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
It is unknown if Adapalene passes into breast milk; caution should be exercised in nursing mothers.
Avoid applying on cuts, abrasions, eczematous, or sunburned skin.
Minimize exposure to sunlight or artificial UV light during treatment, as Adapalene may increase skin sensitivity.
Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors.
Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C, protected from light and moisture.
Keep out of reach of children and ensure the tube is tightly closed after use
